November Newletter
From the Principal…A student's success in school often results from the combined efforts of two of the most important people in that student's life: parents and teachers. The first scheduled conference of the school year is an important opportunity for you to share information about your child. That's why I have listed below some topics for parents to think about. If any are relevant, you may want to jot down notes and then share information with your child’s teacher during the conference.
- reaction to school.
- previous school experiences, both positive and negative.
- home responsibilities.
- reactions to recent changes in the family or household.
- interests or hobbies outside of school.
- special needs, such as medication, nutrition, allergies, or health related information.
I would also like to share some questions that you may want to ask at the conference:
- What are ways I can support school experiences at home?
- What is the best way to contact you if I have concerns or questions during the year?
- What are my child's strengths and weaknesses?
- How does my child get along with others?
- Can we develop a system for communicating, such as passing an assignment notebook back and forth, to ask and answer questions?
Perfect Attendance… Congratulations to Tiler Zook for winning September’s $100.00 Best Buys gift certificate. Ten other students received a $10.00 SCRIP gift certificate. Keep up the great work students!
Parent-Teacher Conferences…Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held November 13th – November 20th. Students in grades 1 – 6 will attend school 8:40 am until 12:40 pm. All Kindergarteners will come 8:25 – 11:45 am.
Picture Make-up Day…Wednesday, November 5th is Alamo’s Picture Make-up Day. If your student missed the first Picture Day or if you don’t like the picture that was taken, please bring back the pictures and smile for the camera.
Staying Healthy… We are continuing to communicate with our students procedures for protecting against the flu. We are instructing students to:
- Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. If soap and water are not available, alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. Germs spread this way.
Alamo is asking again for your generosity in donating
· Boxes of tissues,
· Anti viral alcohol-based wipes,
· Alcohol- based hand sanitizer.
Thank you to those who have already sent in these items and to parents who have solicited donations of these items from local merchants.
Dropping Off Items…Parents, please remind your students that it is their responsibility to stop by the office to check for things they may have forgotten at home. This will help eliminate interrupting the classroom instruction time. The office gets many forgotten items daily and can not interrupt classes constantly. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
