From the Principal… Happy October!  We will begin the month with an opportunity to enjoy the beauty of autumn as we have Fall Break from Monday, October 5th through Friday, October 9th.  School resumes on Monday, October 12th.  Alamo is so fortunate to have many volunteers that donate their time and talents to offer special events for students and their families.  We had a terrific book drive last month and are looking forward to the tradition of attending the Alamo Fall Festival on October 16th.  I hope to see you there.

Student Council…Congratulations to our new Student Council Officers.  They are:

President – Hannah Sacca; Vice President – Bailey Garrett; Secretary – Ian De Caro; Treasurer – Sierra Wolfe; Grounds Commissioner – Victoria Lopez.  Thank you for all that participated, every student did an outstanding job and it was an exciting election. 

Perfect Attendance…Once again this year Alamo Elementary will be holding our “Perfect Attendance” drawings for a $100.00 gift card for Best Buy once a month.  There will also be a $10 SCRIP certificate awarded to 10 additional students with perfect attendance.  The school district receives $43.52 per day when your student is at school.  If you are wondering what the green flags are that are hanging outside your student’s classroom, the flags represent perfect attendance for the day in that classroom.  It is very important that your child attends school regularly and make school a priority.  Your child depends on you to make it here on time, every day.   

SCRIP…It’s fun and easy to buy and use Scrip!  They are great for dining, shopping and gifts.  Stop by the office and check out the new participating stores and your old favorites.  This year Scrip will be supporting technology at Alamo Elementary School.  Shop at Alamo today!!!

 

PTA Update…Being a member of PTA means you are supporting your child’s school and the National PTA that lobbies for educational issues at the state and federal level.  Belonging does not automatically sign you up for every school event.  You decide what events you would like to help with, so please get involved.  If someone has not contacted you yet about volunteering or you have questions regarding PTA, please feel free to contact our PTA President, Julie O’Dell at odiejulie@sbcglobal.net.

Fall Festival…Alamo’s annual Fall Festival will be held on October 16th starting at 5:00 pm.  As always volunteers are needed to help make this event a success.  If you can donate time to help set up the festival during the day or help clean up at night that would be greatly appreciated.  Donations of 2 liter soda bottles and candy bars would also be appreciated and can be given to the office anytime.  Please sign up for a half-hour shift in one of the classroom game booths.  As a reminder, the Basket Raffle will occur rain-or-shine.  The festival will be cancelled in the case of heavy rain.
